An ASR 1001-X connected to certain other devices on port Te0/0/1 with AOC, LR, or ER transceivers will fail to bring up the interface on either side, or will experience very high packet loss due to CRC errors on both sides of the link. An ASR1K connected on interface Te0/0/1 is connected to another device via an Active Optical Cable transceiver (Any transceiver that begins with SFP-10G-AOC), Long Reach (ending with -LR) transceiver, or Extended Reach (ending with -ER) transceiver . Sometimes, Te0/0/1 flaps on the ASR side, with the interface indicator LED alternating between amber and green. Other times, the link will stay up with a very large number of CRC errors.
Short Reach (ending with -SR) transceivers are not affected.
This tends to occur more often when the ASR is connected to Nexus 9K switches. However, this is due to a misconfiguration solely on the ASR1K's Te0/0/1 PHY, so it could occur when other devices are connected as well. Connections to other ASR1K's exhibit this less frequently.
