Symptom
PLR (Permanent License Reservation) reservation code when running ASAv5 license is requesting an ASAv10 license instead.
If ASAv10 license is not available, the device will become unlicensed.
The following message may be observed in Cisco Smart License Portal when trying to register PLR:
"The licenses cannot be reserved because the Virtual Account does not contain a sufficient surplus of the following perpetual licenses: Cisco ASAv10."
Conditions
- ASAv deployed with ASAv5 (100M) license using PLR (Permanent License Reservation)
- At least 2GB RAM assigned to ASAv.
- No available ASAv10 license.
Workaround
There are 2 possible workarounds:
- Purchase ASAv10 license.
- Do not increase ASAv RAM beyond 1.5GB
Further Problem Description
Beginning with 9.13(1), the minimum memory requirement for the ASAv is 2GB.
However, it is not possible to deploy an ASAv with 2GB RAM and use ASAv5 license.
Instead, ASAv10 license is required at minimum.
