Symptom
IOS XR platforms may show alarms indicating major software licensing alarm after licensing grace period expiry
Conditions
- no Smart Licensing installed
Some automated scripts may fail to upgrade IOS XR software on the 8000 platform due to the following major alarm:
0/RP0/CPU0 Major Software 05/31/2023 16:30:51 EDT SW Upgrade will be blocked as SIA Grace Period has expired
0/RP0/CPU0 Major Software 05/19/2023 16:26:11 EDT SW Upgrade will still be allowed as SIA Grace Period is remaining
Workaround
There is no workaround to avoid this major alarm if Smart licensing is not installed
Further Problem Description
End-user automation scripts may do an initial health check and may look for any major alarms before initiating sw upgrade. The upgrade scripts will not proceed with install upgrade step with the presence of major alarms.
