Mobile Precision 7000 series keyboard loses functionality when disconnecting from a Lenovo Thunderbolt Gen 2 Dock
7X30 and 7X40 Mobile Precision owners may experience a loss of internal keyboard functionality. This is seen when disconnecting from a Lenovo Thunderbolt 3 Gen 2 dock.

Engineering has identified the issue and has released BIOS updates to resolve this.
The following instructions will take you through updating to the latest BIOS available for your system:
Warning: Dell recommends disconnecting any external devices like external hard disk drives, printers, scanners before updating the BIOS.
Warning: Dell laptops must have the battery installed and charged to at least 10% before you begin the BIOS update. Dell recommends connecting the laptop to AC power before proceeding with the update process.

Browse to the correct Dell Drivers and Downloads page:
Precision 7530
Precision 7730
Precision 7540
Precision 7740
Select the Operating System.
Under Category, select BIOS.
Locate the latest System BIOS for your system:
Dell Precision 7530 and 7730 System BIOS (version 1.13.1 or newer)
Dell Precision 7540 and 7740 System BIOS (version 1.9.0 or newer)
Click Download and save the file to your computer.
Open File Explorer and browse to the location where the downloaded file is saved.
Double-click the BIOS setup file and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation process.
Your system will restart during the installation process.
