Symptoms
In a VMware 6.7 environment, fresh deployment of Unisphere for PowerMax 9.2.1.2 - or an upgrade from 9.1, customer is unable to gain access to the Unisphere interface following a login with default user smc. Performed more than one deployment. Seen in all browsers.
Login error:
Cause
The hostname of Unisphere server had the word "univmax" in its FQDN name. There is an endpoint in REST called dod (new in 9.2.1), that was dropping the "univmax" as part of its query. Because it is coded with "univmax" (which is a generic term we use for Unisphere for VMAX), this created a conflict or failure.
Resolution
Workaround per client: Edit the host table on the client where launching Unisphere from. Make it show:
Relaunch Unisphere: 8443
Ensure that the host FQDN does not contain the string "univmax" for new deploys.
If an existing environment with both a new IP and FQDN as the only option, must reinstall Unisphere for PowerMax with the confirmed new FQDN/IP. If possible, modify the FQDN in DNS assigned to the existing IP, change DNS, and reboot SMAS.
