Symptoms
VxRail Manager or VxVerify runs the test named "mapper" prior to an upgrade.If one or more VxRM checks returns event code 1 or above, these must be investigated prior to upgrading the cluster.When the test passes, it returns the following event:
0 (Pass)
If the test cannot access the necessary information or finds a warning level event, return the following code:
1 (Warning)
A failure, which must be addressed prior to any upgrade, returns the following code:
2 (Fail)
Cause
During the upgrade of VxRM from 7.0.010 to 7.0.100 or higher, it is possible for interruptions to prevent the virtual disk from being repartitioned. This test checks the output of the following command:
df -m
More comprehensive information can be obtained using fdisk, but this does need root permissions:
fdisk --info
In the returned information, ensure that the following is present and if it is, then the partitioning is correct for VxRail 7.0.100+:
/dev/mapper/
For example:
/dev/mapper/storage1-volume1
