Once Veeam Backup database reaches the maximum allowed size, Veeam Backup & Replication will stop functioning completely.
If you choose to host the Veeam Backup & Replication database on Microsoft SQL Server Express, be informed there is a 10 GB database size limitation for this edition. For details, see Editions and Supported Features for SQL Server.
If the database has reached the maximum size supported by the SQL Express, and the Veeam Backup & Replication software is no longer functioning, consider the following options: Option 1: Upgrade the Microsoft SQL instance to a licensed version that does not have the database size limitation. Option 2: Contact Veeam Support to discuss methods that can be used to reduce the size of the VeeamBackup configuration database.Note: After reducing the database size, it is highly advisable to migrate the deployment to PostgreSQL, as PostgreSQL has no database size limitation.
