This article provides steps to register for the complimentary support that comes with VMware Fusion and VMware Workstation if purchased from a reseller.
Product registration occurs automatically at the time of purchase for all VMware products. The license keys will be available in your Customer Connect account. If the licenses are purchased recently and you do not have them under your account please contact your SU/PC. Desktop products such as VMware Fusion and VMware Workstation purchased online do not require manual registration, however if it is purchased through a reseller it should be registered on Customer Connect to get complimentary support. You can, however, activate your Fusion or Workstation software without registering the license keys. Note: Registering a serial key for complimentary support is not necessary for products purchased in the VMware Online Store.For other products, Super Users, Procurement Contacts, and users with File Technical Support Requests permissions can file a Support Request. Notes: If Fusion or Workstation is purchased by a user through the VMware online store, but the product is registered by a another user who is not associated to the account, the user who registered the serial key will not have access to the license key and the complimentary support associated to it and may see an error stating that the license key is invalid. If this happens, the user that registered the key needs to be added to the account.
