The "Hub" is actually an enhanced version of the AirWatch Agent with built-in Workspace ONE features, such as app catalog, people and notifications. Intelligent Hub replaces the name AirWatch Agent on iOS, Android, Windows 10 and macOS. However initially only iOS and Android have built-in Workspace features. Hub for macOS and Windows 10 will have built-in workspace features in the future Who is Hub for? The Hub is an in-place upgrade for the existing AirWatch Agent app. That means if you are an AirWatch customer today, the Hub will replace your Agent in the near future. Don't worry, the upgrade to Hub is non-disruptive so you are not required to change any settings in the Workspace UEM Console. The Hub can also be used by any EUC customer, but Hub features and capabilities vary depending on the deployment and use case. Why are you doing Hub? The Hub will help all our customers achieve their Digital Transformation Journey. First - we recognize there are millions of existing devices already in the field and by bringing Workspace features into Hub, we are able to provide a platform where new services and experiences can be enabled without drastic migrations. Second - our customers and the industry are rapidly moving to cloud-native services, and Hub enables both customers and EUC to enable start the cloud journey via Hub Services. What is the name of Intelligent Hub mean? Is it part of Workspace Intelligence? The Intelligent Hub is the central on-boarding and engagement app for end users moving forward, thus it is the user “hub”. Workspace ONE Intelligent Hub app and Workspace ONE Intelligence are two distinct products. The latter is a service UEM Console administrators use to monitor and manage their Workspace ONE UEM deployment. Both Intelligent Hub and Intelligence have cloud-only components, and Intelligent Hub apps may integrate features powered by Intelligence over time. What are the features of Hub? What Workspace ONE UEM console versions are supported by the Intelligent Hub? The Workspace ONE Intelligent Hub is supported by any Workspace ONE UEM version (9.2.3+) for all features that existed in the AirWatch Agent prior to the Hub’s release. For all new features, such as the built-in Workspace ONE experience (catalog, people, notifications) you must use the latest Workspace ONE UEM Console release (post 9.7). Can I deploy Hub Services On-Premises? If you deploy the latest UEM server version (post 9.7) On-Premises, you may connect it to Hub Services. Hub Services, which provides the built-in app Catalog, Notifications, People and more are always deployed cloud-only. Will there be an impact if I do not upgrade to Hub right away? No. If you are running AirWatch Agent and do nothing the Hub will be an update which replaces Agent with the same functionality. If you have Agent with Catalog, Agent with Workspace ONE or use AirWatch Container there will be not change. Hub will continue to run in MDM mode by default. AirWatch Agent and ntelligent Hub Is Agent deprecated? No. In fact, Hub is an enhanced version of the existing Agent app and shares much of the same code base. All the existing Agent and MDM use cases are supported in Hub. The name AirWatch Agent is just retired and replaced with Workspace ONE Intelligent Hub. Is Hub an in-place upgrade if I am already an AirWatch Agent customer? Yes. The Intelligent Hub uses the same AppID on iOS and Android as the AirWatch Agent. This means it will be an in-place upgrade. As a Workspace ONE UEM Console administrator, if you do nothing, users will be upgraded in the coming app update to Hub and nothing will not be disrupted. You are not required to make any Console configuration changes. At your option, Console administrators may enable Hub Services, which does require additional configuration. How does the Agent experience compare with Hub? The Hub app provides 100% feature parity with Agent and has an upgraded user experience compared with the AirWatch Agent, you can get more information about Hub for iOS and Android. AirWatch Catalog and Intelligent Hub Is AirWatch Catalog deprecated? Not at this time. Customers using AirWatch Catalog may continue to do so after Intelligent Hub is launched. But new feature development will be focused on the Hub Services Catalog. New Workspace ONE UEM customers should use the new Hub Services Catalog. Existing customers with the AirWatch Catalog deployed will not be affected by the Hub upgrade and are not required to change anything when the Hub upgrade is available. By doing nothing, the Hub app will run in agent-only mode and the AirWatch Catalog and web clip deployment will not be changed. Am I required to use Hub Catalog right now? No. Existing Workspace ONE UEM customers are not required to move at this time. Though in a future Console release, the configurations for the Catalogs will be centralized, and there will be a no-friction transition to the new Hub Catalog as the default experience. New UEM customers are free to enable the Hub Catalog as soon as they populated their apps and enable the Hub catalog service. What's the difference between Hub Catalog app and the AirWatch Catalog? Which is better? In general, the existing AirWatch Catalog and the new built-in Hub Catalog are at feature parity - both support native apps, web clips, ratings and promotions. More features are available in Hub Catalog Service when the Identity Service is enabled – bearing in mind both are cloud-only. Both Hub Catalog and AirWatch Catalog are configured within the Workspace ONE UEM Console. Directionally, Hub Services is the platform where all new features will be developed and is the platform of choice, especially for new Workspace ONE UEM customers. How do I determine if I should use AirWatch Catalog or Hub Catalog? If you are a new Workspace ONE UEM customer running the latest version (hosted or post 9.7), you should plan on using the Hub Catalog. For existing Workspace ONE UEM customers who use AirWatch Catalog, you should strongly consider migrating to the new Hub Catalog at your discretion in the future. For Workspace ONE UEM customers that plan on remaining on version 9.x for the foreseeable future, you may only use the legacy AirWatch Catalog (until upgrading to a version post 9.7). UEM Console 9.x UEM Console 10.x No AirWatch Catalog (Greenfield) NA Use Hub Catalog AirWatch Catalog Use AirWatch Catalog Enable Hub Catalog in parallel to AirWatch Catalog and plan to migrate Workspace ONE App and Intelligent Hub Is Workspace ONE App deprecated? Not at this time. Workspace ONE app and the Hub app will co-exist. There are use cases for which Workspace ONE app is the appropriate solution, such as in VMware Identity Manager On-Premises deployments, where the catalog service must run On-Premises. Over time, the use cases supported by Workspace ONE app will be subsumed by the Hub app and customers will be expected to use Hub instead. At future date, Workspace ONE app will move from General Support in Technical Guidance and continued to be maintained. Eventually it will reach End of Availability (EOA). What is the reason to do Hub and eventually replace Workspace ONE app? Historically the Workspace ONE app has targeted BYO use cases while AirWatch Agent targeted traditional MDM cases; providing deployment options to customers based on need. Customer feedback has been to unify deployments and enable cloud-first services, Hub app has arrived as the obvious solution. Over time it will provide a super-set of use cases, and existing Workspace ONE app customers will have a migration path to the Hub app and Hub Services in upcoming releases. What is the fundamental technical difference between the Workspace ONE app and the Hub app? The Intelligent Hub app relies on the Hub Service backend for its catalog and all-new user experience. This Hub Service is able to support either UEM or VMware Identity Manager hosted for authentication, which enables the Hub app to scale to far more use cases. The Workspace ONE app has a dependency on VMware Identity Manager, which runs its own catalog service for On-Premises and hosted deployments. How do Workspace ONE app and Intelligent Hub app features compare? The Hub app leverages the complete set of Hub Services, including custom Home tab, Notifications, People plus the all-new catalog experience (promotions, new apps, ratings and more). The Workspace ONE app shows the same app types and entitlements as Hub and uses the existing catalog service experience. Existing On-Premises VMware Identity Manager customers should continue to use the Workspace ONE app. The Workspace ONE app focuses primarily on BYO use cases (with optional enrollment), while the Hub app initially addresses traditional Agent enrollment use cases and will add new cases over time. How do I determine if I should use Workspace ONE App or Intelligent Hub App? Customers with hosted IDM deployment or considering hosted IDM can opt in to using the Intelligent Hub app depending on the enrollment scenario. Enrollment Case IDM On-Premises IDM Hosted Device enrollment by Workspace ONE app (direct enrollment, no Agent) Use Workspace ONE app Seamless switch to Hub app possible1 App container enrollment by Workspace ONE app (adaptive management, no Agent) Use Workspace ONE app On iOS: Hub supports adaptive management for net new users, but existing Workspace ONE users must re-enroll.2 On Android: adaptive management is not supported in Hub app, so continue using Workspace ONE.3 Device enrollment by Agent with Workspace ONE app as catalog post enrollment Use Workspace ONE app Seamless switch to Hub app possible1 1 After Agent is upgraded to Hub on a managed device, the user simply can remove the Workspace ONE app. 2 Please see Hub Enablement Kit for more details. 3 Hub app is designed to work with Android Enterprise Work Profiles as the go-forward solution to containerization Intelligent Hub Licensing What license entitlement do I need to use Intelligent Hub? Hub is bundled in any Workspace ONE UEM entitlement. Additional Hub functionality based on identity services is available for customers who have entitlements to VMware Identity Manager hosted. Intelligent Hub and VMware Identity Manager Does Hub require IDM? No. When IDM is not enabled, Hub runs in Agent only or Agent plus native app catalog mode. Do SaaS apps, Citrix and Horizon work in Hub? Yes. When IDM hosted is configured with a Workspace ONE UEM 10.x server, Hub provides a unified Catalog experience. Can Hub be deployed with IDM On-Premises? Not at this time. VMware Identity Manager runs its own catalog service for On-Premises. Hub App Deployment What is the recommended deployment model for Hub app? Use the latest version of Workspace ONE UEM (post 9.7), which can be hosted or On-Premises.Use both Hub Services and optionally Identity Manager hosted for an optimal user experience.Any existing UEM server will work with Hub app. What is the Workspace ONE UEM server version requirements for Hub? With a 9.x server, Hub provides traditional Agent-only modeWith a server (post 9.7 version) and Hub Services enabled, Hub app provides a catalog experience (and more if Identity is also enabled).
