We’re excited to introduce some new features available with VMware Workspace ONE Express! Other than the colors being a little different, here are some new things to look out for:
Express assisted setup of VMware Enterprise Systems Connector and Active Directory
We’ve added more features to the assisted setup wizard when you first login to the console. Now you can configure the VMware Enterprise Systems Connector (formerly AirWatch Cloud Connector) and your directory services. If you’ve already configured these or need to change something later, you can still find them in Settings > System > Enterprise Integration.
Device based VPP app/license assignment support and Express assisted setup
Now you can deploy purchased and free apps using the Apple Volume Purchase Program (VPP). Set this up either during the Express assisted setup or by navigating to Settings > Apps > Workspace ONE > VPP Managed Distribution.
Support for Apple’s DEP
Make device onboarding as easy as possible by using the Apple Device Enrollment Program (DEP). This guides users to activate their devices with VMware Workspace ONE Express right out of the box so they instantly get the blueprints you setup. You can find this setting by navigating to Settings > Device & Users > Apple Device Enrollment Program.
Support for deployment of web apps
In addition to public and purchased apps (see VPP support above) you can distribute web apps to your users. A web app looks like a regular app when pushed to the device but launches the native browser on the device with the URL you define in your blueprint.
Support for global blueprints
Instead of manually selecting user groups or individual users, you can assign the apps, resources and policies from your blueprints to all your users. Select this during the Naming section of your blueprint.
