Symptoms
After enrolling an iOS device into the Workspace ONE UEM Console, when you look at the Details View for the device, the Network section reports message similar to:"SIM Card Status Unapproved."
Purpose
This article provides a solution to address the enrollment errors for iOS devices utilizing Workspace ONE (formerly known as AirWatch). This includes: Single SIM models, Dual-SIM and/or E-Sim Capable iOS models.
Cause
This error message indicates that the SIM card has been changed since enrollment. If the Compliance rules are configured for SIM Card Change, this could impact device functionality if the device is non-compliant.
Impact / Risks
Depending on the Compliance Policies configured in the console, certain device functions such as email, profile, and application access may be impacted. See Compliance Policies Actions by Platform for more information about this topic.
Resolution
To resolve this issue, manually approve a new SIM card for the affected device:
Locate the affected device in the console and navigate to the Details View page.From the Details View page, select More > Network.Scroll down to the Cellular category and add a new entry in the Approved SIM(s) section.
The device should become Compliant after the new SIM is approved.
Notes:
The compliance engine will run and evaluate device samples every day; however, the "Last Compliance Check" compliance status may remain the same due to no incoming SIM(s) sample from the device. This is expected behavior. To force the console to update the last sample evaluated:
Modify the SIM card from an affected device.Wait 24 hour period for the new sample.Allow Workspace ONE to re-evaluate compliance as the sample has changed.
If the steps above do not resolve the issue, review the Workaround section.
Workaround
It is possible that the ICCID (SIM number) which is expected does not match with actual result due to a DB error, or additional whitespace in the expected field for the Approved SIM(s) field. If this is the case, remove any additional whitespace and re-save.
