Symptoms
While using a Yubikey smart card to connect to the remote desktop, the smart card redirection does not work. Within the Virtual desktop device manager, the device appears as an unknown smartcard reader.
Cause
The Yubikey Minidriver is not installed correctly on remote agent.
Resolution
MiniDriver Installation Procedure:
Download YubiKey Minidriver available at Yubico.Select YubiKey Minidriver - CAB download.Extract the CAB and place it on a network location accessible to the golden images.Download a copy of VMware player, workstation or Fusion for mac and install it on a device you can plug Yubikey in VMware Workstation Player.Open the golden image template console via player, fusion or workstation. Then connect the Yubikey device to the VM.
Once connected, open device manager on the remote machine and you will notice the smart card is in an “unknown” state.
Note: If the “smarts cards” subcategory is unavailable, disconnect the smart card in player, workstation or fusion, unplug the smart card, plug the smart card back in, then connect it via the console again.
Right click the unknown smart card and choose update driver.
If you have access to windows update, it should pull the driver automatically, if not or wish to do it manually, choose browse.
Browse to the contents of the extracted CAB file driver downloaded.The smart card installation starts.After the installation is complete, the smart card should appear within device manager.
Shutdown the target VM and create a snapshot, you should be able to update pools.
