Symptoms
When connecting with a client version 2106 or older to connect to an agent version later than 2111, the USB-R feature may not work.The error message “USB Redirection is not available for this desktop” is displayed in the dropdown menu.Note that other redirection features (RTAV, printer, scanner, etc.) are not affected.Log Lines will be present in the Horizon client logs similar to the below:

Purpose
This article aims to troubleshoot the compatibility issue when USB-R is not functional.The table below will help you check the incompatibility of the agent, broker, and client combinations.

Cause
Security enhancements have been introduced in Horizon 2111, which uses a more advanced algorithm for USB redirection. This newer, more secure hash is not supported in older Horizon Clients.
Impact / Risks
USB redirection will not work under a specific combination.All Windows/macOS/Linux desktop clients are impacted.
Resolution
Upgrade the Horizon Client version to 2111 or later or alternatively,Enable USB over a virtual channel if you cannot upgrade the client.
