An issue has been identified on HPE StoreOnce Backup Systems using 10Gb NIC card NC552SFP or 557SFP+, when upgrading to software version 3.15.0 or later, where attempting a component firmware upgrade to the 10Gb NIC reports a Discovery Error if the login banner text is changed. HPE StoreOnce software version 3.15.0 introduced the ability to configure the login banners using the HPE StoreOnce CLI. It was found that if the login banner text contains unexpected text (for example, the word Oracle ), the discovery and the firmware upgrade of the 10Gb NIC card may fail. This is due to the way the firmware package tries to determine the operation system software version. Here is an example of the issue showing the HPE StoreOnce GUI in the Device Configuration / Firmware window after a Scan function has completed, displaying Discovery error for the PCIeNIC device: Here is an example of the issue where the HPE StoreOnce GUI shows incorrectly that the 10Gb NIC firmware upgrade completed successfully. This issue will be resolved in a future component firmware version for the NC552SFP or 557SFP+ 10Gb NIC card.
