Document Version Release Date Details 2 05/21/2019 Updated the Resolution with the permanent fix, OneView 4.10.03 or later. 1 08/14/2018 Original Document Release. An upgrade from OneView 3.10.xx or 4.00.xx to 4.10 may fail when using HPE OneView for VMware vCenter (OV4VC) integrated with OneView, and the VMware vCenter has multiple ESXi hosts registered with same server Universal Unique Identifier (UUID). The following error message will be displayed if the upgrade fails due to the multiple ESXi hosts registered with the same server UUID: " Unable to update appliance " The following error message will be in the activity log after OneView reverts back to the pre-update version: " Update operation failed while upgrading database ." This issue occurs if there are multiple hosts with the same UUID present in vCenter. The following scenarios may cause multiple host entries with the same UUID in vCenter: Scenario 1 Server hardware that is part of a cluster and is decommissioned by un-assigning the hardware from the server profile. Then the same server hardware is used in a different cluster in vCenter using the OV4VC Grow Cluster feature. This results in multiple hosts in vCenter with same UUID from the same server hardware. Scenario 2 A server is added to vCenter and subsequently powered off/disconnected, but not removed from vCenter. Then the server is added to vCenter with a new IP address. The server with the same UUID will appear twice in the vCenter inventory. The old, stale entry will be reported as unreachable in vCenter and should be deleted.
Any HPE OneView 3.10.xx or 4.00.xx that is upgraded to OneView 4.10 when it is integrated with HPE OneView for VMware vCenter.
