On an HPE ProLiant server running SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 15 with secure boot enabled and configured with any of the HPE Broadcom network adapters listed in the Scope section below, when an upgrade of the network adapter firmware is performed using the HPE Broadcom NX1 Online Firmware Upgrade Utility for Linux x86_64 version 2.21.58 or Service Pack for ProLiant (SPP) 2018.09.0 in Online Mode, the upgrade will fail and will display the Return Value: FWUPG_ERR [6].
Scope
Any HPE ProLiant server running SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 15 with secure boot enabled and configured with any of the following network adapters:
HP Ethernet 1Gb 2-port 330i Adapter
HPE Ethernet 1Gb 4-port 331FLR Adapter
HPE Ethernet 1Gb 4-port 331T Adapter
HP Ethernet 1Gb 4-port 331i Adapter
HPE Ethernet 1Gb 2-port 332T Adapter
HPE Ethernet 1Gb 2-port 332i Adapter
Resolution
As a workaround, update the network adapter firmware using the Service Pack for ProLiant (SPP) via Offline Mode, available at the following URL:
www.hpe.com/info/spp
This issue is fixed in the firmware-nic-broadcom-2.23.10-1.1.x86_64.rpm file and Service Pack for ProLiant (SPP) version 2019.03.0.
