IMPORTANT: Drive firmware HPG5 is considered a critical fix and is required to prevent the issue described below. HPE strongly recommends immediate application of this critical fix. Neglecting to perform the required action could potentially result in SSD unresponsiveness. By disregarding this notification and not performing the recommended resolution, the customer accepts the risk of incurring future related errors. Certain Solid State Drives (SSDs) listed in the Scope section below may experience a firmware issue that could result in a higher than normal failure rate. When a failure occurs, the drive may become unrecoverable, even after a power-cycle. Though data integrity is not directly affected by this issue, any drive failure in a non-fault tolerant configuration may result in data loss. This issue was partially addressed in HPG3 firmware, but this new HPG5 firmware is required to completely correct the issue.

HPE has released drive firmware version HPG5, which prevents the issue from occurring and provides the fixes described in the Release Notes below. Upgrade all drive models specified in the Scope section to drive firmware version HPG5.
