Info
Upgrading HPE Systems Insight Manager may result in the following Linuxagents folders "/var/opt/mx/linuxagents" in Linux CMS and "SIM_Install_folder>/linuxagents" in Windows CMS growing to a large size and consuming large volumes of space to store components for the various Operating Systems. By design, older versions of components such as "rhel-4-x86_64" are not automatically deleted to allow users to utilize the components based on the targets managed
This issue will occur whenever there is a SIM upgrade; for example, upgrading SIM from version 7.6.0 to 7.6.LR1 and then to 7.6.LR2 will result in the Linuxagents folder having agents from three different releases.
Scope
Any HPE server running HPE Systems Insight Manager 7.x (or later).
Resolution
Follow the instructions below to delete the additional components:
1) Browse to the linuxagents folder:
Linux: /var/opt/mx/linuxagents
Windows: C:\Program Files\HP\Systems Insight Manager\linuxagents
Note: The linuxagents folder will have many Subfolders in <OS_Short_Name>-<Major Version>-<Architecture> format. e.g. "rhel-4-x86_64" - For RedHat Enterprise Linux 4 x86_64 "sles-12-x86_64" - For SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 12 x86_64
2) Delete the unwanted subfolder from the linuxagents folder.
If no RHLE4 x64 based target is managed in CMS, delete the "rhel-4-x86_64" folder.
If no SLES12 x64 based target is managed in CMS, delete the "sles-12-x86_64" folder.
3) Delete the older versions of
psp*.tar.gz
and keep the latest file under each Linux OS folder.
For example, when upgrading from SIM 7.6.0 to 7.6.4, the following files will be present in sles-12-x86_64:
psp-11.00.sles12.x86_64.en.tar.gz
psp-10.50.sles12.x86_64.en.tar.gz
Delete the
psp-10.50.sles12.x86_64.en.tar.gz
and keep only
psp-11.00.sles12.x86_64.en.tar.gz
file.
