Original document release
On an HPE ProLiant m750 Server Blade installed in an HPE Edgeline EL1000 Converged Edge System running Ubuntu 18.04.5 or Debian 9.9 OSes, any PCIe optional card installed along with a NVIDIA Quadro P1000 card may not be detected in the operating system.
When this occurs, dmesg displays the following error:
" pci_bus0000:00: Automatically enabled pci realloc, if you have problem, try booting with pci=realloc=off "
Scope
Any HPE ProLiant m750 server blade installed in either of the following HPE EL1000 Converged Edge Systems connected to an NVIDIA Quadro P1000 card and any PCIe optional card, running Ubuntu or Debian OSes:
880273-B21
HPE Edgeline EL1000 10GbE 2xSFP+ v2 Pass Thru System
880271-B22
HPE Edgeline EL1000 1GbE 2xRJ45 v3 Pass Thru System
Resolution
As a workaround, follow the below steps to make the optional PCIe cards visible in the abovementioned OSes:
Go to RBSU -> Advanced Options and disable "PCI resource above 4GB" with v1.40 or a later BIOS
OR
Disable dynamic reallocation by adding the below parameter into the grub file:
# vim /etc/default/grub
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="pci=realloc=off"
Save the file, and recreate the boot menu by using the below command:
# update-grub
Reboot m750, and run lspci and verify if the PCIe optional card is detected.
