Document Version Release Date Details 2 December 7, 2021 Updated Resolution, issue has been addressed with iSUT 2.9.0 1 March 25, 2021 Original Document Release. When using Service Pack for ProLiant (SPP) 2020.09.0 to perform Smart Update Manager (SUM) localhost guided deployment of SPP Software/Firmware updates, a pop-up message indicating "Integrated Smart Update Tools has stopped working" may be displayed during installation of Integrated Smart Update Tools (iSUT) version 2.7x, if previous iSUT version 2.5x for Windows x64 is present on the HPE ProLiant and Synergy Gen10 or Gen9 servers or compute modules running Microsoft Windows Server 2016, Windows Server 2019, or Windows Server 2012 R2. This may also occur when iSut v2.70 Windows Smart Component (cp041077.exe) or later is executed locally to perform online installation while previous iSUT v2.5.5 (or earlier) is already installed. In both of the installation scenarios, iSUT is successfully installed; however, the iSUT v2.7x Smart component post installation process does not gracefully complete as it generates the pop-up error message along with the following iSUT application crash signature logged in Windows Error Reporting Event ID 1001 to the Windows Application Event log. iSUT Popup message with Windows application crash signature: Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: sut.exe Application Version: 2.7.1.0 Application Timestamp: 5fc79856 Fault Module Name: sut.exe Fault Module Version: 2.7.1.0 Fault Module Timestamp: 5fc79856 Exception Code: c00000005 Exception Offset: 00000000001fc691 OS Version: 6.3.9600.2.0.0.272.7 Locale ID: 1033 Additional Information 1: 9c22 Additional Information 2: 9c22db89433a4d965dd236b748e5079 Additional Information 3: cb9f Additional Information 4: cb9f802cafc6b04a1fddda9a984e369 Note: The iSUT Pop-up/App crash only happens while iSUT is configured in On Demand mode. After clicking "Close program" to close the pop-up, the updates of the driver, firmware, and software complete successfully using SPP. The overall Firmware update completes successfully, so the only issue is that the pop-up appears.
Any HPE ProLiant or Synergy Gen9 or Gen10 servers and compute modules running Microsoft Windows Server 2016, Windows Server 2019 or Windows Server 2012 R2. This only occurs when using SPP 2020.09.0 to perform SUM localhost Guided SPP Software/Firmware updates or using iSut v2.70 Windows Smart Component (cp041077.exe) or later locally to perform online installation of iSUT while previous iSUT v2.5.5 (or earlier) is already installed.
