On any HPE platform running VMware ESXi 6.5, VMware ESXi 6.7 or VMware ESXi 7.0, and configured with any of the HPE Host Bus Adapters with qlnativefc version 2.1.96.0 (or later) listed in the Scope section below; the IIDMA speed for the HBA memory access will be incorrectly set to a low value for each target discovered, resulting in a performance degradation. The IIDMA is an internal Firmware I/O throttling mechanism used to "reduce" the command processing to match the target of the actual FC speed. When this occurs, the write latency may be up to 12ms, while the target array is not busy, depending on the number of paths to the storage affected. The qlnativefc driver attempts to request the port speed of the SAN switch connected (using the GPSC command) while connecting to the target LUN after the target is discovered. If the SAN switch Operating System (Brocade FOS v8.0.1 or prior) that the HBA is connecting to does not support GPSC requests or if the request times out, the driver will default the Target Link Speed (IIDMA) option for the HBA port to the lowest value of 1Gbps. This issue is experienced with storage targets that have been zoned with the server after the server was booted. Important information: To confirm that this issue is being experienced, look for the following message in the VMkernel logs: qlnativefc: vmhba3(61:0.0): iIDMA adjusted to 1 GB/s on <Target WWPN> If the target WWPN is connected to the fabric at speeds higher than 1 Gbps, then the HBA is unable to get GPSC primitives for that target, and the read and write speed of LUNs connected to that target may be impacted. Extended error logging (also called "verbose logging") needs be to enabled to see the iIDMA messages. For more information, refer to the following VMware Knowledge Base Article: Enabling or disabling verbose logging on QLogic and Emulex Host Bus Adapters (1005576)

VMWare ESXi 6.7 qlnativefc driver version 3.1.29.0 (or later). VMware ESXi 7.0 qlnativefc driver version 4.1.9.0 (or later).
This issue is corrected in ESXi 7.0 (or later), U3 only, for driver version 5.1.68.0 (or later). Download : HPE QLogic Fibre Channel driver component for VMware vSphere 7.0 (version 2022.09.01) or later . Due to the end of support for ESXi 6.5 / 6.7, HPE recommends performing the following workaround: Reset the port speed negotiation of the HBA by performing the following command: esxcli storage san fc reset -A vmhbaX ; X = your HBA number . Upgrade the Brocade Fabric Operating System (FOS) to version 8.1.2k (or later).
