On HPE ProLiant DL360/DL380 Gen10 Plus servers running VMware ESXi 7.0 with an HPE TPM module installed, during the Operating System installation and sometimes during reboot of VMware ESXi 7.0; error messages similar to the following may be displayed:
-VMware ESXi 7.0.3 Build-19193900 Update 3 Patch 20 is installed -Error observed -TPM Log extend Failed for ID 2: Volume Full Failed to Measure '/xorg.v00' into TPM : Volume Full Fatal Error: 12 (Volume full)
This issue occurs because raw data is filling up the reserved memory space.
Scope
Either of the following HPE Gen10 Plus platforms running VMware ESXi 7.0 with an HPE TPM module installed:
HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen10 Plus server
HPE ProLiant DL360 Gen10 Plus server
Resolution
To resolve this issue, download and install the following System ROM version:
System ROM Flash Binary - HPE ProLiant DL360/DL380 Gen10 Plus (U46) Servers 1.64_08-11-2022
Workaround
For platforms where user does not prefer to install the component above, perform either of the following procedures:
Turn off TPM UEFI Option ROM Measurement.
OR
Set the current TPM 2.0 Active PCRs to SHA256only vs "SHA1 and SHA256".
Note:
This can be implemented with Gen10 Plus System ROMs dated after 05/27/2021 (gen10 plus ROM). The current active PCR cannot be switched in previous System ROM versions.
