On any HPE Synergy Compute Module running VMware ESXi 7.0 Update 3 and configured with either of the HPE Synergy Converged network adapters with qedf driver version 2.2.70.0 listed in the Scope section below, and running high I/O loads (with transfer size > 1kB) on a virtual machine; the HPE Synergy Converged network adapter may experience virtual machine issues where I/O effectively stops for a few minutes and the Virtual Machine cannot write any data, which then causes the Virtual Machine to mark the disk as degraded.
Scope
Any HPE Synergy Compute Module running VMware ESXi 7.0 Update 3 and configured with either of the following HPE Synergy Converged network adapters with qedf driver version 2.2.70.0:
HPE Synergy 4820C 10/20/25Gb Converged Network Adapter (876449-B21)
HPE Synergy 6820C 25/50Gb Converged Network Adapter (P02054-B21)
Resolution
To resolve this issue, install the qedf driver version 2.30.8.0 (included in the "MRVL-E4-CNA-Driver-Bundle_5.0.339.0-1OEM.700.1.0.15843807_20031634.zip" package for Synergy) which is included in the HPE Synergy Custom ESXi Image for VMware ESXi 7.0 U3 (Aug 2022).
This driver is also included in the HPE Synergy Service Pack (SSP) 2022.08.01 and the HPE Synergy Service Pack (SSP) 2022.11.01. These HPE Synergy Service Packs can be downloaded at the following URL:
