Document Version Release Date Details 2 April 11, 2023 Updated Resolution with fix, iLO 5 firmware v2.81. 1 March 14, 2023 Original Document Release. After updating to iLO 5 firmware v2.78, the iLO 5 web interface may become slow or unresponsive and iLO 5 communication may timeout. This only affects access to the iLO 5 for monitoring functionality. When this occurs, iLO REST and IPMI functionality may be affected and monitoring the system through iLO 5 is not available. The iLO 5 is still accessible through SSH. The following may be observed: GUI Timeout: Login Error: error=0, message=timeout, details=undefined Timeout: iLO 5 encountered an error, possibly due to the system not being ready. Error making call: The call timed out. Try again. (app_session_info) HPE OneView iLO 5 timeout: • Launch Console The iLO is not currently accessible due to networking problems. Resolution: Retry the operation later; if problem persist, contact your administrator. A Power-On Self-Test (POST) error may be observed on boot: 329-Power Management Controller Firmware Error - Unable to communicate with the firmware. Reset the power management controller firmware. If the issue persists, remove AC power to reset the Power Management Controller firmware. 270-iLO FW Communication Issue – Unable to communicate with iLO FW. Certain management functionality is not available. The system cannot communicate with the iLO firmware. Remove and then reapply power to the server.
This has been observed with iLO 5 firmware v2.78 on the following servers: HPE ProLiant DL360 Gen10 server HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen10 server HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen10 plus server HPE ProLiant DL325 Gen10 plus server HPE ProLiant DL385 Gen10 plus server HPE Synergy 480 Gen10 compute module HPE Synergy 480 Gen10 Plus compute module HPE Synergy 660 Gen10 compute module This may also occur on other servers.
To avoid this issue, update to iLO 5 firmware v2.81 (or later). Locate and select the HPE Integrated Lights-Out 5 v2.81 firmware (or later). Note: To ensure that you have selected the latest version of the firmware/driver, click the Revision History tab to check if a new version of the firmware/driver is available.
