Info
After a node is powered on, if connected to a switch port with Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP) and Data Center Bridging Exchange Protocol (DCBXP) enabled, the HPE Alletra 9000 or HPE Primera 600 Storage system management (MGMT) port may not come online. This issue might occur on any management ports that are connected to the network switch.
NOTE
: The DCBX Protocol (DCBXP) is an extension of the Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP). DCBXP is incompatible with the array MGMT port.
Scope
All of the following conditions need to be valid in order to consider this advisory as a possible match to this issue:
The issue is encountered only after a node or array is powered on.
Node(s) are not contactable on the management (MGMT) ports.
The array is up and serving data.
LLDP and DCBXP is enabled on the switch ports connected to the array MGMT ports. To verify the switch port settings, refer to the product user guide for instructions.
Resolution
To resolve this issue, disable LLDP and DCBXP on the switch port and reboot the affected node:
Either disable DCBXP on the array attached switch port or disable LLDP entirely on the switch. To verify and amend the switch port settings, refer to the product user guide for instructions.
Power cycle the affected node:
cli# shutdownnode reboot <node_id>
Verify the issue is resolved.
IMPORTANT
: If multiple nodes are to be rebooted: Once a node integrates into the cluster, allow about 10 to 15 minutes for the system to stabilize. After the node integration, perform basic checks to verify the system health and only then proceed with another node reboot.
