IMPORTANT: Both updates that are provided in the Resolution section are recommended to prevent the issue described below. HPE recommends performing these updates at the customer's earliest possible convenience. Neglecting to perform the recommended action and not performing the recommended resolution may result in the potential for subsequent errors to occur. For any HPE ProLiant Gen10/Gen10 Plus/Gen11 servers, or HPE Synergy Gen10/Gen10 Plus/Gen11 compute modules running VMware ESXi 8.0/8.0U1/8.0U2, and configured with a VMware vSAN 8.0/8.0U1/8.0U2 Express Storage Architecture (ESA) or Original Storage Architecture (OSA) cluster, running application/stress tools on VMs may report I/O errors. As a result, a data inconsistency may occur. The above issue occurs when using AVX-512 instructions.
In the scenario described above, any HPE ProLiant Gen10/Gen10 Plus/Gen11 servers, or HPE Synergy Gen10/Gen10 Plus/Gen11 compute modules running VMware ESXi 8.0/8.0U1/8.0U2, configured with a VMware vSAN 8.0/8.0U1/8.0U2 ESA/OSA cluster, and using AVX-512 instructions.
To avoid this issue, update to the following versions: VMware ESXi 8.0U2c build 23825572 (or later). VMware vSAN 8.0U2c (or later). Additional information can be found at the below links.
