HPE ProLiant DL360 Gen9 and HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen9 servers with System Programmable Logic Device (SPLD) Version 0x34 require HPE Integrated Lights-Out 4 (iLO 4) firmware version 2.40 (or later).
If the iLO 4 firmware is downgraded to a version earlier than 2.40 and the SPLD version is 0x34, SNMP traps 8192 (iLO Self Test Error) will send "0x2: Updated iLO firmware may be available" messages that are displayed in the Diagnostics page of iLO web interface.
The SPLD version 0x34 added support for a server hood sensor that is a special option available only for the HPE ProLiant DL360 Gen9 and HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen9 servers. To ensure the server hood sensor functions as expected, iLO 4 firmware version 2.40 (or later) is required.
Scope
Any HPE ProLiant DL360 Gen9 or HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen9 server with SPLD version 0x34 and an iLO 4 firmware version earlier than 2.40.
Resolution
If the HPE ProLiant DL360 Gen9 or HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen9 server system board SPLD version is 0x34, ensure that the iLO 4 firmware is version 2.40 (or later).
NOTE: The SPLD version is displayed during the Power-On Self-Test (POST) and in system management utilities.
