Spots or Smears Both Copying and Printing

Overview

Check to see if there is any paper or debris inside the printer. Make 10 blank 2-sided copies to help clean the printer Running a quantity of two-sided copies through the copier / printer will help to remove any contamination that has built up inside. Use paper within specifications for the printer and make sure the paper tray settings are properly configured for the paper size and type loaded in each tray Make sure to follow the  Paper and Paper Tray Specifications. Try fanning and flipping the paper over in the tray, and/or a new ream of paper. Remove and Reinstall the Required Color Drum Cartridge (Imaging Unit) Associated With the Problem. Print the Repeating Defects Pages to Determine the Cause The drum cartridge may be defective.  Replace the Required Drum Cartridge.
